dc.description.abstract |
Honey is a sweet, viscous food substance made by honey bees and some related insects from the sugary secretions of plants or other insects. This article describes the process by which bees produce honey from nectar through regurgitation, enzymatic activity, and water evaporation, storing it in honeycombs as a long-term food supply. It details the roles of different bees within a hive (queen, drones, workers) and the specific biological process a foraging bee uses to collect, transport, and process nectar into honey within the hive. The practice of beekeeping to harvest honey is also mentioned. |
