Abstract:

Honey, a delicious substance produced by honey bees and related insects, is produced through a process that involves regurgitation, enzymatic activity, and evaporation from floral nectar or honeydew. Bees gather nectar to sustain their metabolic requirements during foraging and to accumulate as a long-term food source. The production of honey is a process in which bees transfer nectar to hive bees, who then process it through regurgitation and evaporation. This process results in honey with a higher acidity and a lower water content. This process emphasises the complex relationship between honey production and the foraging behaviour of bees, underscoring the potential benefits of honey for human consumption and the bees' well-being. |
