The systematic literature review of digital health interventions in South Africa

Abstract

In South Africa, the delivery of healthcare services is being greatly impacted by digital health technologies. The usage of digital health interventions is studied in this systematic literature review, with a special focus on wearable technology, augmented and virtual reality, and telemedicine. This article examines how these technologies facilitate health data collecting, enhance access to healthcare, promote remote consultations, and lead to more individualised healthcare. The increasing importance of digital health in response to the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic is also taken into account. Overall, the assessment identifies the need for efficient implementation and accessibility while highlighting the potential of digital health interventions to enhance patient outcomes and healthcare delivery in South Africa.
