The challenges faced by international institutions when employees communicate in different languages

Abstract

Language is a system that involves the development, acquisition, maintenance, and use of complex systems of communication, and particularly the human capacity for it; a language is any specific example of such a system. The scientific study of language is called linguistics, and questions about whether words can truly capture experience have been debated since ancient Greek philosophy. Some thinkers, like Rousseau, argued language arose from emotion, while others, like Kant, saw it as rooted in rational thought. Twentieth-century philosophers such as Wittgenstein went further, treating philosophy itself as essentially the study of language.
